INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION AVAILABLE TO OUR STUDENTS
The area of Technological Education, always striving towards the cutting edge of technology, aims to enhance teaching-learning processes with the help of the Information and Communication Technologies – ICT. We use latest technology (Hardware and Software), allowing students diverse tools with which to optimize their work and improve their learning.
TECHNOLOGY FOR THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE
Learning to use programmes is not the “purpose” of our courses, but the mean to reach a “Product” and/or “Solution”…
Following the afore mentioned International Baccalaureate (IB) guideline, the Design course is based on the development of “Projects.”
…Design is the link between innovation and creativity: taking ideas and exploring the possibilities and limitations related with products or systems; enabling redefinition and managing the generation of new ideas through the creation of prototypes, experimentation and adaptation. Design is focused on human beings and on the needs, desires and limitations of the final user.” (IB Design Guide, 2014).
The IB model consists on developing projects in 4 stages:
– Inquiry and Analysis
– Development of Ideas (Design and Planning)
– Creation of the product and/or solution
– Evaluation
The purpose of the Design course is to develop a high knowledge level about design and enable students to build up skills on critical thinking and design that they can apply on a practical context. The general objectives are to foster and support the students in order to: efficiently use and apply the technology as a resource to access, process and communicate the information; model and create solutions, and to solve problems. (IB Design Guide, 2014).
Students learn to use several programs, producing evidence of their work at each stage of either tangible or intangible Projects, which upon conclusion demonstrates their learning process.
Examples of final project may include: presentations, concept maps, 3D design, surveys, reports, podcasts, videos, mockups, web pages, videos, games and computer solutions created on different programming languages, etc.
INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATES
In a world where computer technology is an essential part of the learning process and employment world, receiving a certificate can clearly give students an advantage.
The certificates of Internet and Computing Core Certification, Microsoft Office Specialist, and Adobe Certified Associate are recognized worldwide and offer our students the necessary knowledge to stand out in the fields that involve the use of computer technology and the internet.
CERTIFICACIÓN MICROSOFT OFFICE SPECIALIST (MOS)
Es una acreditación con validez internacional con la que se certifican los conocimientos en la herramienta Microsoft Office, el paquete ofimático de productividad más usado actualmente.
INTERNET AND COMPUTING CORE CERTIFICATION (IC3)
is an international training program which certiies that the student:
1. Has the computer SKILLS to stand out in a digital world.
2. Is able to use a wide range of computer technology (from basic hardware to software to operating system, apps and internet).
The IC3 certification provides the guidelines related to the knowledge and skills required to be a functional user in hardware, software, networks and internet through the three-certification exams mentioned below:
1. Computing Basics (Hw, Sw)
2. Key Applications (Microsoft Office)
3. Life Online (Networks)
MICROSOFT OFFICE SPECIALIST (MOS) CERTIFICATE
is an internationally recognized certification, acknowledging expertise of Microsoft Office, a widely used productivity computer package.
ADOBE CERTIFIED ASSOCIATE (ACA)
This certification validates the proficiency in the use of the Adobe products, and is offered to students interested in Graphic Design and Marketing.
